The 4th MMRC Lecture celebrated the 30th anniversary of the recognition of Rom*nja as "Volksgruppe" in Austria by focusing on struggles for self-/recognition through music and collective movements.

The evening centered around a keynote by Ioanida Costache (Stanford University, California) on racialized trauma and the role of music in creating intimate spaces wherein processes of belonging and healing can take place, and a response by Mirjam Karoly (honorary member of Romano Centro) on the importance of the civil society struggle for the recognition of the Porajmos. The rap duo Mindj Panther (Sandra Selimović and Simonida Selimović) completed the program with a musical call to action against racism and for Romani empowerment – and motivated the audience to dance!

The event was rounded off with a special catering by "Mosaic" – a project dedicated to women with experiences of violence and displacement that cultivates community through culinary art therapy.
